Christmas in North Country

Well we are still much too far north as Christmas approaches, Oriental, NC, yes we are still having repairs done. The good news - there is a new Mast lying on sawhorses and it is very close to being put into Cats Cradle and our Bimini frame is in the shop being copied, along with cleaning and patching of the material. The bad news - more damage was found yesterday, the Arch and where it attaches to the boat will have to have some work. So the plan is to go on to Jacksonville Beach no later than the 10th of January so that Bernie can be in place for the 2 month job with West Marine. In April 09 we will return to Deaton's (Oriental) for who knows how long for the Arch repair and any other miscellaneous stuff.

Scupper and Gilligan are well known by everyone and get lots of attention. Gilligan of course just had to go swimming this past week, screaming all the way, but that's why we keep a net handy.

As the holidays have neared the town of Oriental has entertained us with a Lighted Boat Parade, and the Street Parade (they get an A+ for participation), along with very nice decorations throughout the entire town. We will be driving north to Mom's for Christmas dinner, unlike the song we are NOT dreaming of a White Christmas, we'll settle for clear roads. It's time to take a break from the work yard.

We wish all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, stay safe and warm.

Bernie, Carol, Scupper and Gilligan
